Radiosonde - Weather Balloons

Thanks to information provided by Trevor VK8TH, I am now receiving data from Radiosondes. In my carefully cataloged equipment storage facility (junk box) I had a spare Pi-3 and RTL-SDR .   I am using software called Radiosonde Auto-RX developed by Mark Jessop VK5QI.

Here is a Youtube video from Mark Jessop VK5QI explaining how it all works.

I am feeding the received data to aprs.fi

Radiosondes are usually in the air just before 00.00z and 12.00z.

IC-7610

Time for a new toy!  I've just treated myself to a new (secondhand) radio.  I am now the proud owner of an Icom IC-7610.  I've have its little brother the IC-7300 for a few years and it's been a great radio.  The 7610 is very impressive, with duel receive and a remote server built in.  The Duel Receive means that you can operate FT8 with the Main Rx and listen around the rest of the band with the Sub Rx.  I might look at adding a RX antenna into the mix so I can jump around the bands with the Sub Rx.

The remote server also works extremely well, with the ability to have both the Main and Sub band Spectrum Scopes accessible from anywhere with internet access.
