On the road again

Today we started our travels east. My 30m APRS (VK8MT-15) was working really well until Salmon Gums then because of a cabling issue it stopped.  

Turns out that I forgot to plug the radio into the 12 Volt car supply. So all the beaconing today was only 5 Watts max, running on the radio's 7.2 Volt battery pack (until it went flat). That's kind of impressive! Until it wasn't.

We are staying overnight at a free camp site near Fraser Range (see last beacon for the day, back on the 12 Volt supply).

Radio (cupboard) Birthday Cake

Well what a surprise! Celebrating my 60 birthday in Katanning WA, with some of our family.  Those who have visited my shack (cupboard) will see the resemblance. 

LoRa Satellite Distance Record

My TinyGS recorded a new distance record of 2967.7 Km.   Overnight it received telemetry from a satellite over the Philippines. 

Interestingly, this was received at 3 degrees below the horizon. Strange!

Bremer Bay for the weekend

We are down on the South coast of WA for the weekend, at a place called Bremer Bay. It's a very beautiful part of the world. But a little on the cool side at this time of year.
